THE 2013 BELL TOWER FESTIVAL- BEST EVER?
As we head into May, it is time once again to start making your family plans for the Bell Tower Festival, June 7 and 8. Every year we try to provide a bigger and better Festival for our residents and guests but this year we have really taken a major step forward.
To begin with the theme for this year’s Festival is “The 100 Year Celebration of the Lincoln Highway”. Greene County was the first county in Iowa to have a paved road run from border to border. That road is the Lincoln Highway, which also runs through the middle of our Bell Tower Festival. We have joined with the Lincoln Highway Association to add new events and attractions related to the Centennial. We will feature antique cars, by-planes, guest speakers and music celebrating the event.
For the first time in almost ten years we are bring back a real midway to our Festival. We will feature rides for adults and children and midway games around the square. Discounted ride tickets can be purchased in advance from the Chamber and local banks. The square will also feature the inaugural “Business Showcase”. This area spotlights our major businesses in Green County and includes examples of their products such a garbage truck from Scranton Manufacturing, a planter from Bauer Built, equipment from AAI and Powerlift and other examples from our leading employers. We are fortunate to have a successful and growing group of businesses and this is the chance to show our residents and guests what we have.
We will have live entertainment Friday and Saturday nights, a national known Elvis Tribute Artist (Joseph Hall), car and motorcycle shows, expanded hours for the Beverage Garden (plus we will be selling food and Festival souvenir mugs and T-shirts) and the wine tasting tent. For the first time we will be holding a special dance for our 21 and under youth.
This year more than ever, the Bell Tower Festival is truly FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!!
